Interschool Sport vs Waverley (16.06.10)

''Hurry up everyone''. It was Interschool sports vs Waverley on Wednesday and it was really exciting because we got to go on a bus. At 12 o'clock everyone was on the bus and ready to go. Some of us were sitting on the ground and the rest of us were sitting on the seats. All throughout the bus ride Miss Barraclough and Mrs Gorrie were telling us to be quiet but we didn't listen. Mr Fage was giving us some support and pretending to be a waka. When we got to Waverley the first thing we saw was the girls in their Netball uniforms which looked really cool by the way. We all sat down in our teams and listened to the Principals speech. After that we went to our games and had a lot of fun. Then we had something to eat then we went home. In the bus most of us were falling asleep.

Young Leaders Day

National Young leaders day 2010

Grace Madden, Phoebe MacLeod and Kayleigh Duncan

It was the 26th of May and at 1pm and we had left Hawera Primary School for the Young Leaders Conference in Palmerston North. When we got there we found our motel and then got our togs and went to the pools. After, we went to Valentines buffet, they had lots of yummy things. We went to bed at 8:30 but we didn't go to sleep till 12:30pm!! Miss Barraclough and Mrs Williams were not happy.

The next day we were all up at 7 o'clock and getting ready for the Conference.Mrs Williams had made us some lunch for the big day. By 8 o'clock we were on our way to the Conference at the Regent Theatre. We were an hour early so we went to have a hot chocolate at the cafe across the road.

At about 9:30 we left the cafe to go to the theatre. After we got in Mrs Williams went to the service desk and got us all a Young Leader gold badge. There were 5 speakers altogether and there names were Nick Tuitasi, Allison Mooney, Pat Buckley, Dayna Vawdray and Rob Harley. We celebrated the Young Leaders Conference 10th Birthday!

I learnt that in life sometimes we get knocked down - "Don't get bitter - get better"
"Bring brilliance to others" - encourage others to achieve and help others out
Surround yourself with the right people - don't give in to peer pressure
I also learnt that my personality is like a golden retriever - I am a peaceful person!

Thank you Mrs Sullivan for choosing me as a representative for our school. I really enjoyed the Young Leaders day and learnt a lot.
